Lab Policy:

The most important part of lab policy is common-sense and integrity. Thus, the BYU Honor Code is expected to be observed and maintained. Examples include but are not limited to the following bullet points:

  • Do not remove and unplug any cables (including mice and keyboards) from lab computers.
  • Do not attempt to reconfigure the computer or change any settings.
  • Clean up lab area prior to leaving the lab (including straightening out the workstation and pushing in chairs).
  • For certain labs, keycard access is required. Do NOT prop doors open for these labs. If access is needed, speak with a department secretary in EB450.

Hundreds of students use these systems and are showpieces for visitors taking a tour of the Engineering Department. Remember, undergraduate labs are a privilege and rights may be revoked if a student is not complicit with these policies. Those who choose to ignore this policy will be responsible according to the offense taken by the department CSR.

Computer and Accessories Requests:

Prior to submitting a request for any kind of workstation, it is advised to consult with your professor on needs of the research lab and your role. Once decided, create a ticket with the necessary information, including your CAEDM ID if you will need to be an admin on the requested PC.
