Splashtop
Splashtop is a tool used for remote computer support, it differs from RDP in the fact it lets you join the current users session.
Assistant CSRs are automatically granted an account through an OIT boss group of the Full-time CSR.
To remote into computers you will need to install the Splashtop Business App.
Logging into Splashtop Business App
- Open the app and select the single sign-on option
- Login with you netid@byu.edu
- A web browser will open up to a BYU CAS page for you to login in with your netid@byu.edu and password
- If this is your first time login into Splashtop on this device a pop up will notify you that you must first authenticate this device. An email was sent to your byu email.
- Open the email and click the authenticate this device link to finish the authentication
- After click this link you will need to sign in one more time with SSO
Using Splashtop Business App
Splashtop Business App has two ways of offering remote support. They are through Splashtop Streamer and Splashtop SOS
Splashtop Streamer
This requires that the Splashtop Streamer app is installed on the client device. This will allow the computer to always be available for us to remote into.
How to Connect
- In the list of of computers select the machine you wish to remote to
- Once highlighted in purple you will see four icons to the right of the computer name
- To remote into the computer click the first icon thats called connect.
- An authentication window will pop up. You can login with your caedm account or the local admin account.
- Once you are connected you will have the options to open a chat window with the client if needed
- You also have the ability to black the screen and lock the mouse and keyboard if needed.
- Once you finish the support disconnect from the device
Splashtop SOS
Splashtop SOS allows for a one time connection to a Device. This is the best option for a professors machine for security reasons.
- In the Spalshtop business app click then SOS button in the upper left corner
- Please have the client go to sos.splashtop.com and download a small sos agent
- Have them run the agent and it will give them a 9 digit code
- Enter the 9 digit code to connect
- An authentication window will pop up. You can login with your caedm account or the local admin account.
- Once you are connected you will have the options to open a chat window with the client if needed
- You also have the ability to black the screen and lock the mouse and keyboard if needed.
- Once you finish the support disconnect from the device.
